Our HERstory
With local roots dating to 1950 and national status since 1945, Girls Incorporated® of the Albemarle has responded to the changing needs of girls and their communities through research-based programs and advocacy that empower girls to reach their full potential and to understand, value, and assert their rights.

Who We Serve
In 2012, we served over 200 youth in North Eastern North Carolina. We accept all school aged girls without distinction of race, color, creed or national origin: of those served directly, 46% identify as Black/African American; 37% White/European American/Anglo; 5% Latina/Hispanic; and 12% Multiracial. 30% of the girls we serve live in families earning $30,000 or less a year and nearly half are from single-parent households, most of which are headed by women.
